Mind Radio

Sit down and close your eyes. Imagine your mind as a radio constantly switching between stations: “Criticism Station”, “Anxiety Station”, “Memories Station”. Do not try to tune or turn it off. Just listen for 3-5 minutes, gently noting: “Ah, here plays the program about yesterday’s mistake”, “Now the Fear station turned on”. Does your attitude toward thoughts change when you perceive them as broadcasts rather than absolute truth?

Does this sound like you?

  • You replay conversations from days ago.
  • You plan for scenarios that will probably never happen.
  • At night, your mind gets louder the moment your head hits the pillow.
  • You've tried to "just stop thinking". It made it worse.

Why you can't think your way out of overthinking

Overthinking feels like problem-solving, but it rarely solves anything. The mind keeps circling because it's trying to feel safe, and every new thought becomes one more thing to check.

Telling yourself to stop only adds another thought to the pile. What helps is changing your relationship with the thoughts: hearing them as broadcasts, not orders. When you notice "ah, the worry station is on again", a small gap opens between you and the loop. In that gap, your body can settle.

That's the idea behind Mind Radio. You don't fight the stations. You listen, name them, and notice what changes when thoughts become something you hear rather than something you are.

Inside WholeBing, this is part of the Hear path: practices that help you separate your own voice from the noise and come back to it.

Questions

Why do I overthink at night?

With fewer distractions, the mind fills the quiet with unfinished business. A short body practice before bed gives your attention a calmer place to land.

Is overthinking the same as anxiety?

Not always. Overthinking is a thinking pattern that often travels with stress or worry. If it seriously affects your sleep or daily life, consider talking to a professional.

How long does this practice take?

Mind Radio takes 3 to 5 minutes. Most WholeBing practices take under 7.

Is this therapy?

No. WholeBing is a body-based self-discovery practice and does not replace medical or psychological care.
